Wow, maybe I'm PMS-ing or just emotional from some of the big changes that are going on in our church group, but I read this poem on Dena's blog and it struck a chord in me. How very much we need each other! A friend of mine posed the rhetorical question recently, "are relationships necessary?," and instinctually the depths of my gut scream out a resounding "YES!!"
Whether you're a chat-a-holic (as I once was) or just have a general hesitation when it comes to intimate friendships (as I think we ALL do), this sentiment probably sounds familiar:
Chat Room
Faceless bodies, voiceless words—
A cacophony of silent cries
Begging to be heard.
We bare our souls,
Reveling in anonymity,
And miss altogether what our
Nameless keystrokes preclude…
The warmth in a smile,
A brow furrowed in concern,
The touch of a friend—
The touch.
I am so very thankful for my friends :)

you are an amazing, strong, beautiful, and often times an emotional woman. i love you for it. your desire to share, your desire to be know, your desire to know God.

I'm glad you knew I wouldn't mind if you posted the poem on your blog. :-)
I'm thankful for my friends, too...and VERY glad to name you among them.
We've all been talking a lot lately about what "community" really means and how we achieve "authentic community"--Julie is posting an article from Relevant Magazine on her blog that I think expresses well what we're all thinking about/aiming for. You can read it at http://www.preever.blogspot.com/
She doesn't have it all up yet--I'm not sure how many more parts there will be, but it's really struck a chord with me so far.
thanks for the plug...lol
